Opera Quest Online
Where do opera stories come from? Which voice types play which roles? And how did opera come to be in the first place? These are questions touched on briefly in Opera the Great! In 2020, when the pandemic cancelled live performances, we took the opportunity to dig into them more deeply through an online approach.
Using a carefully conceived plan for safe, professional-quality recording in performers’ homes, we produced three videos that are as lively and colorful as they are educational. We tested them with music teachers practicing remote learning with their classes. We also developed curricular materials--PowerPoint presentations, links to other resources, etc.--for teachers to use in rounding out their lessons. And we will offer classes the chance to interact live with our performers via zoom.
Once our live shows resume, this package of new materials will be a valuable way for teachers to prepare their students for Opera the Great! and/or follow up after the show.
